Refund & Health Guarantee Policy

Effective Date: 02/01/2026

Koch Family Fainters is committed to providing healthy, well-cared-for goats to our buyers. This Refund & Health Guarantee Policy explains the limited circumstances under which a refund or replacement may be offered.

By purchasing or reserving a goat from Koch Family Fainters, you agree to the terms of this policy.

1. General Health at Time of Sale

All goats sold by Koch Family Fainters are healthy to the best of our knowledge at the time they leave our farm. Each goat receives routine care and observation while in our possession. Buyers are encouraged to inspect their goat at pickup. Once a goat leaves our property, responsibility for the animal’s care, health, and well-being transfers to the buyer.

2. Limited Health Guarantee

A refund or replacement will be considered only if a licensed veterinarian provides written documentation confirming that the goat has a serious health condition caused by a genetic defect or that the goat contracted the illness or condition while still on our farm and prior to transfer of possession. The veterinarian’s statement must clearly indicate that the condition was not caused by transport stress, environmental changes, improper care, exposure to other animals, or buyer handling after pickup, and that the condition was present or contracted before the goat left our farm.

3. Veterinary Documentation Requirements

To qualify for a refund or replacement, the buyer must obtain a written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian. The diagnosis must include the goat’s identification, the medical condition, the veterinarian’s opinion that the condition is genetic or was contracted while on our farm, the date of examination, and the veterinarian’s name, license number, and contact information. Koch Family Fainters reserves the right to contact the veterinarian directly for verification.

4. Time Limit for Claims

Any health-related claim must be submitted in writing to Koch Family Fainters within 30 days of the buyer taking possession of the goat. Claims submitted after this time period will not be considered.

5. Exclusions — No Refunds Will Be Given For

Refunds or replacements will not be given for conditions resulting from transport or relocation stress, improper nutrition, or housing after pickup, exposure to other animals after leaving our farm, injury after pickup, parasites acquired after leaving our farm, buyer negligence or improper care, normal growth changes, cosmetic traits or minor imperfections, fertility issues or breeding performance, show performance, or temperament.

6. Refund or Replacement Terms

If a claim is approved, Koch Family Fainters may, at our discretion, issue a refund of the purchase price or offer a replacement goat of similar value when available. Veterinary fees, transportation costs, and other expenses are not refundable. Refunds will not exceed the original purchase price of the goat. Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing.

7. Return of Goat (If Required)

In some cases, Koch Family Fainters may require the goat to be returned to our farm before issuing a refund or replacement. The buyer is responsible for return transportation. No refund will be issued until the goat is returned and evaluated.

8. No Other Guarantees

Except as expressly stated in this policy, all goats are sold “as is” and no other warranties or guarantees, express or implied, are provided. This policy replaces all prior oral or written statements regarding refunds or health guarantees.

9. Governing Law

This policy shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Indiana.
